My parents being active members of East Bengal Club, football runs in my veins. My stay in LLR hall was an eventful one. People used to call me Dada, even my seniors. It was like my second home. Every one in LLR hall (even including the mosquitos) knew me. I was a member of our hall's soccer team (which won gold in 2000), captain of hall's bridge team (3 silver's during my time but no gold) and captain of dramatics team and creative writing team. bitten by the teaching bug and joined ICFAI Business School, Hyderabad
where he is a Professor of Operations Management and Business Strategy.Wife Kanthimathi is a B.Sc. + MBA. She too was in BHEL when she met Kannan. They married in 1982. Subsequently, she worked for Mascon and Anandalaya (Dr. Kurien's school in Gujarat). She is now an educationist working for 'Educational Initiatives' (www.ei-india.com). Their son Mahadevan is in 5th. yr. of integrated B.Tech. + M.Tech. course in Civil Engg. at IITkgp / Azad Hall. Served in the Indian Army (Corps of Engineers) from 1977 to 1999, mostly on deputation to Survey of India. Carried out difficult survey work in Himalayas and all over India. Also did Ph.D. from Ohio State University, Columbus during 1987-92. Took premature retirement from the Army / Survey of India in 1999 in the rank of Lt. Col. and joined as Associate Professor of Civil Engg. at IIT Bombay. Promoted to Professor of Geodesy & Remote Sensing in March, 2003. His areas of specialization were: Geodesy, Space Geodesy, Surveying, GPS, Space VLBI, etc. Madhav married Vidya in 1984. Rhucha and Chaitanya are their two children. While on official work at Koyna (Maharashtra) in April 2007, Madhav suffered a stroke and died after a few hours due to lack of treatment.May his soul rest in peace. |
